Hi,

I have two adorable Robo's. I've had them for I think 4 months, and they have been the best of friends. Now, yesterday they starting fighting (they have always been play fighting). One seems to be the alfa hammie and "puts the other one in his place" (I think he bites and he chases the other one), but the other one seems scared and makes a hissing sound when he is "attacked". They still sleep next to eachother and get along most of the time, other than these attacks.... I was hoping someone else had experienced this and can tell me if they are just going through a phase??? :x

I think that if they are fighting so badly now that you notice, they need to be separated. I see this a lot...only about 80% of the time can dwarfs can live in a pair or group, litter mates related whatever. I have several pairs and litters of hamsters ( about 12 adults that i keep and breed) and i only have two females that live together and have for about 2 years. I recently had another pair that were doing well for a while, untill one ripped the other's ear off. Separated they became. I would advise separating them, to avoid any serious injuries, and possibly one becoming agressive to you.

Hi - Thank you for the comment that was left here. Well, one day I saw that Barley had bitten Hops in the butt area and he was all red and there was no fur :sigh So I seperated them right away! Hops was messing with his wounds and made them worse... but it seems to be all healed now :) He has become quite skiddish though :sigh

I'm so sad that they are seperated, but I guess it is for the best...

I JUST had this problem! They have been fine for the last 2.5 months. One is more dominant than the other... but they still sleep together and cuddle a lot. Just two days ago, they started fighting all day long and yesterday I found the dominant one bleeding. I have them separated, but I was hoping that it was just a minor thing? What have you found out? =)
