I am thinking of getting a hamster. It would be my very first hamster and as for the type that wiuld be best for me i am clueless???? I have been researching hamsters for some time no and i need some advice on the breed i should get and where the best place to purchase a hamster would be. I realize that hamsters are nocturnal but i was hoping to be able to handle my hamster frequently....would this be possible in choosing this pet??? Like i said i am a first time hamster owner and would really like some advice. So please contact me on this...thank you.... :)

Hey. We have a chinese dwarf hamster and for the first we didn't see him at all as he only came out when we had gone to bed. As he was purchased for the children i started closing my living room curtains at around 4pm. By around 6pm he is usually out and about. The children love to stroke him and watch him in his ball and after they have gone to bed we let him run around on the sofa/our bodies. He loves it and often gives us lick kisses...
